Salem County is considered part of the Delaware Valley area. It has more than 34,000 acres of meadows, marshland, wetlands, 6 rivers, 40 lakes and ponds, bay beaches, dunes, woodlands, with nearly half of the land actively farmed. Parvin State Park is situated on the edge of the Pine Barrens. It has pine forests, hardwood forests, Thundergust Lake, Parvin Lake and Muddy Run for fishing and boating.
